If your water heater isn't keeping up, it may be time to upgrade to a tankless system. Instead of storing heated water in a large tank, these compact units heat water as it flows through a heat exchanger. We assess household water use, available space and energy needs to help select the right system for your home.
- New tankless installation
- Tank-to-tankless upgrades
- Gas and electric systems
- Replacement of older tankless units
A closer look
Understand your options.
How on-demand heating works
Opening a hot-water tap sends cold water through a heat exchanger, where it is heated as needed. There is no large reservoir kept hot between uses. The system's output is still limited by its heating capacity and the demand from fixtures running together.
Choose capacity, not just a compact size
Discuss showers, kitchen use and other simultaneous hot-water needs during your assessment. Flow requirements and incoming water temperature affect the capacity needed. Available space, energy supply and gas and vent connections also influence the installation.
Upgrading from a storage tank
Green Air assesses water usage, available space and energy needs before recommending a tankless replacement. Installation includes sizing and setup, gas and vent connections and removal of old tank equipment. A conventional hot-water tank remains another option when comparing budget and installation requirements.
Keep mineral buildup under control
Annual tankless maintenance includes descaling, flushing, flow-sensor checks and performance testing. Ask about the appropriate interval for your particular model and conditions. Temperature changes, pressure problems, error codes and ignition issues warrant a professional diagnosis.
With you through every stage.
01
Installation
Customized system design, sizing and setup for a new installation or tank upgrade. Our team handles gas and vent connections, with installation meeting BC building and safety codes.
02
Maintenance
Descaling, system flushing, flow-sensor checks and performance testing help prevent mineral buildup and maintain efficient operation. Servicing is recommended at least once a year.
03
Repair
Diagnosis and repair for inconsistent temperatures, low pressure, error codes, ignition and burner issues, mineral buildup, and faulty thermostats or sensors.
04
Replacement
Remove outdated equipment and choose a modern unit suited to your household's water demand. Recurring faults and unreliable hot water can be signs it is time to consider an upgrade.
Tank or tankless?

| Footprint | Typically floor-mounted | Compact, wall-mounted |
| Energy use | Keeps stored water heated | Heats water when needed |
| Upfront investment | Generally lower | Generally higher |
| Installation | Typically simpler replacement | May require gas and vent upgrades |
